On July 19 local time, the main structure of the Arusha Comprehensive Stadium project in Tanzania, constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group, was fully topped out, marking the transition of the project from civil works to steel structure construction.
The Arusha Comprehensive Stadium will serve as the main venue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. It has a seating capacity of 30,000 spectators, with stands meeting international competition standards, VIP boxes, and accessible viewing areas. Supporting facilities include a warm-up field, training hall, media center, and athletes’ apartments, with a total planned land area of 14.75 hectares.
The stadium adopts a structure of reinforced concrete frame at the lower level and a single-layer spatial grid at the upper level, with the innovative application of Africa’s first localized truss single-layer spatial grid steel structure. The roof features a large-span single-layer spatial grid steel structure, with lightweight aluminum panels as the main decorative material. It is currently the largest and most technologically advanced modern sports facility under construction in Tanzania.
